There are some people in your life you need to get rid of. Otherwise, you will never progress in life. They are not your enemies, they are the enemies of your progress. They could be your parent(s), husband, best friend, lover, employer, pastor etc.
Lionel Messi is the best Football player in the World. Not even Christiano Ronaldo can match him (he comes pretty close though). For years Messi won the Best Footballer Award back to back. Then along came Suarez and Neymar. Messi being a magnanimous person was more interested is his new club mates shinning at the expense of his own progress. His main competition has almost caught up with him in the number of awards received all because Messi was more interested in the TEAM than in himself.
Now as the present season was about to start Neymar left Barcelona for PSG under controversial circumstances. Leaving an empty void. Messi had to step up for his team. It has been just a little over a month since the new season started. The Messi of old is back. with over 8 goals in 4 matches and amazing assists, he is already on track to break more records.
The question for me is if Neymar had not left, would Messi be performing the way he currently is? The answer is a BIG NO.
I have come to realize that we all have someone, something or somewhere that is holding us back. Some people are stagnant not because of a witch in their village but because they ave failed to identify and get rid of their FRIENDLY enemies of progress.
Sometimes employers will hold you back from moving on to other jobs, pastors will brainwash you into working in their ministry and no where else, parents will force you into studying a course you do not like, your spouse would refuse to allow you work and keep you as an housewife.
Enemies of progress are everywhere. Most times they mean well and do not even know they are holding you back.
It is your duty to identify them and root them out of your life. Failure to do so will ensure you never make headway in life.
For me, identifying was not easy at all. When I did, i got rid of them.
I am always on the lookout for more.
